Guild Wars is a deceptively simple game, when in fact it is a game that is easy to play but difficult to play well ...

No, it's not another online dating junk message - it's the character creation screen for Guild Wars, a title from NCSoft that sports one of the most customisable character generation of any MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game). The characters you can create are simply stunning - so it's a good job that the rest of the game matches up to the incredible aesthetics.
The first time you launch the game, you will also be taken aback by how quickly the login screen pops up and afterwards, how quickly it loads all the gaming worlds. Creating a character is painless and once you actually launch the game, it is truly amazing to behold. All of Guild Wars’ information is server side and the game automatically streams required updates and installs them transparently to the user in a matter of seconds.

Guild Wars has slickly sidestepped most of these issues by being only partly an MMO. The cities and some far-flung locations act has hubs where players can socialize, trade, buy gear, sell loot, and gather up into parties, but everything outside of those relatively small zones is an instanced experience, where you either fly solo, with your four-person party, or with game-controlled henchmen.
